Making a Difference Arizona Style

P2160324editedHave you ever had one of those projects that was so challenging you just slipped it to the back burner?

Well, that is how it was for me trying to schedule a volunteer event for our Arizona team all the way from Michigan! Until one day I said "ENOUGH"! My day was committed to scheduling a Community DIFF volunteer opportunity in Arizona and by the end of the week I had two volunteer dates on the books and I am determined to get more!

On Saturday, February 16 at 8 a.m. our Arizona Community DIFF team took to the streets of Phoenix and Scottsdale to do the right thing in their community. Fifteen team members along with their family and friends were lead by Lindsey Nelius (huge thanks Lindsey for stepping in for me) to pick citrus at the homes of seniors or the physically challenged The project helped home owners along with the United Food Bank of Phoenix. All the citrus that was harvested was packed by our DIFF Makers so the United Food Bank could redistribute it to those in need of fresh produce.

It took about two hours for the team to pick and crate the fruit in Phoenix, by the time they arrived in Scottsdale they were fruit picking pros. They knocked out the harvesting at the 3rd house in 20 minutes and stayed on to help the home owner with some raking and cleaning of their yard.

That is what making a difference is all about, going the distance in the community were we live, work and play. Way to go Arizona!!!
